These prices are for services, fees or other charges that may appear on your bill. They include charges for providing information to builders and developers who need to know where our assets are located and how to connect to our services. By law, we have to charge GST on some services. GST is included in prices for these services.

Certificates and diagrams

If you're buying or selling a property, moving to another property or planning changes at your property, you'll need to know where the pipes are.
 

Building over or adjacent to asset letter

You may need this letter if you're buying a property that has a structure built near our pipes. It will tell you if the previous owner followed our requirements. Apply through one of our Property Link brokers.

Conveyancing certificate

This certificate lists any outstanding charges on your property. If you're buying or selling a property, your solicitor or conveyancer will purchase this as a part of the settlement process. Sewerage service diagram

If you're selling a property, you may need this diagram as part of the sale process. You may also need it if you have a blocked pipe, as it will help your plumber find the blockage. This diagram shows the building on your property, where the building's private wastewater (sewer) pipe is and where it connects to our system.

Connecting and disconnecting

Here's what you need to do if you're connecting your property to our services or disconnecting a disused service.
 

Disconnections

If you follow our requirements, you won't pay charges for a service when you disconnect it (excluding stormwater). You must apply for the disconnection online at Sydney Water Tap in. The application is free.

Disuse of a wastewater pipe or feature

If you're developing a property, you may not need an existing Sydney Water wastewater (sewer) pipe or structure. You can apply to disuse the pipe or structure online at Sydney Water Tap in. The application is free.

Extended private service application

If you can't connect directly to our water supply, you may need to install an extended private service. You'll need our approval. Apply online at Sydney Water Tap in. The application is free.

Maintenance hole adjustment application

You may ask us to raise or lower our wastewater (sewer) maintenance hole if:

  • you're developing a property
  • you're landscaping a property
  • there's a safety risk.

For gravity wastewater maintenance holes, this is free for existing homes every 2 years. A fee will apply if you need another adjustment within 2 years or if there are access restrictions. For vacuum wastewater maintenance holes, this is free for existing homes every 10 years. A fee will apply if you need another adjustment within 10 years or if there are access restrictions.

Pump to wastewater approval

If you can't dispose of your wastewater (sewage) by gravity, you may need to pump it to our system. You'll need our approval. Apply online at Sydney Water Tap in. The application is free.

Statement of available pressure and flow

If you're developing a property, you can ask us about the street's water pressure to help you assess the property's water needs. Apply online at Sydney Water Tap in.

Stormwater connection approval

You may need to connect to our stormwater system if a council drainage system is unavailable.

If you're connecting a house, you can apply online at Sydney Water Tap in. If you're connecting any other property, a water servicing coordinator can help you. If we approve your connection, we'll tell you what you need to do. The application is free.

Vent shaft adjustment application

If you're developing a property, you may need to move a vent shaft if it's in the way of your new building. A water servicing coordinator can give you advice about this.

Water connection approval

You may need a new connection to our water supply if you're developing or subdividing a property. You can apply for the connection online at Sydney Water Tap in. The fee depends on the connection size.

Water connection application

When you get our approval, you'll need to arrange the connection. You can ask us or an accredited water service connection driller to connect you.

If you want us to connect you, you can arrange a connection through Sydney Water Tap in at the same time you apply for approval or at a later date. You'll get a job reference code and a phone number to call and arrange a quote. The application is free.

Water main fitting adjustment application

If you're developing a property, you may need to change the height of the valves on our water pipes. This may be when a new driveway covers a hydrant but is at a different height. Apply online at Sydney Water Tap in. The application is free.

Water pump application

If water pressure is too low when you're developing a property, you may need to install a pump to increase the pressure. You need our approval to install the pump. Apply online at Sydney Water Tap in.

Developing

These are the applications you require if you need to move our assets or want to extend our pipes to service your development.
 

Asset adjustment application

If you're developing a property, you may need to adjust one of our pipes or structures. A water servicing coordinator will advise how to do this and lodge your application for you.

Development requirements application

If you're thinking about subdividing or developing a property, ask a water servicing coordinator or call Sydney Water Developer Direct on 1300 082 746 7am–4pm Monday to Friday (except public holidays) to assess the development's service needs. If you go ahead, they can apply for a Section 73 compliance certificate for you.

You must have development consent from the council or other authority before we can issue a compliance certificate. If you don't, we'll only issue a general letter of requirements until the development consent is received.

Road closure application

If you buy part of a road to make your property larger, you'll have to permanently close the road. You'll also need to check if any of our pipes run through the road. A water servicing coordinator can advise how to do this and lodge your application. The application is free.

Water and sewer extension application

If you're developing a property, you may need to extend one of our pipes if a connection point is unavailable to your development. A water servicing coordinator can tell you how to do this and lodge your application.

Billing

Maybe you need a financial statement, or there's a charge on your bill you don't understand.

Credit and debit card processing fee

If you choose to pay your bill by credit or debit card, there's a 0.4% surcharge. Find out about our other payment options that don't incur a fee.

Dishonoured or declined payment fee

If your financial institution declines your bill payment, we'll charge you a fee. We'll also charge you their fee if they pass it on to us.

Late payment fee

If you don't pay your bill by the due date, we may charge you a late payment fee or interest. Once the interest charged exceeds the fee, interest will be charged instead. Interest is charged at the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) cash rate target plus 4%.

Water reconnection fee

If you haven't paid your bill, we may restrict or disconnect you from the water supply. You must pay a fee to be reconnected.

Meters

You may need to pay more if you want your meter read more frequently, if we're unable to get to your meter or if your meter has been damaged.
 

Monthly meter reading fee

If you'd like monthly bills, you can ask us to read your meter monthly. The fee will appear on the first bill each quarter. To arrange it, call us on 13 20 92 8am–5:30pm Monday to Friday (except public holidays).

Inaccessible meter fee

If we can't read your meter and have to average your bills over a long period, we may charge a fee. It won't apply if you provide your meter readings or choose to have a remotely read meter installed.

Water meter test

If your water use is higher than usual and you can't detect a leak or explain high water use, apply for a water meter test. The price depends on the meter size.

Replacement of a damaged meter

If you or someone at the property damages the meter and it requires replacement, we may charge you. The price depends on the meter size.

We'll continue to pay to replace meters that are faulty or due to be replaced as part of our regular maintenance program.
