Executive team

Introducing the team

Our Managing Director and the rest of our Executive team are responsible for the day-to-day management of Sydney Water under the authority delegated to them by the Board of Directors. They do this according to the specific directions of the Board and Sydney Water's general policies.

Roch Cheroux – Managing Director 

Roch is a key influencer in the water industry, with experience shaping and leading public and private corporations across Asia-Pacific region and Europe.

Before joining Sydney Water, Roch was Chief Executive of South Australian Water Corporation (SA Water) where he led the transformation of South Australia’s largest water utility, embedding changes to technology, culture and systems to improve the experience for its 1.6 million customers. Before joining SA Water, Roch was Chief Executive Officer of SUEZ for South East Asia and SUEZ-Degrémont Australia and New Zealand, Managing Director of United Utilities Asia and Pacific (TRILITY), and Chief Executive and Chair of Tallinn Water in Estonia. 

Roch holds formal qualifications in engineering and business management, and seeks to champion innovation, diversity and reconciliation in the workplace.

Member of the Safety and Wellbeing, Planning and Infrastructure, and People, Culture and Remuneration, and Economic Regulation committees.

Roch is active across the water industry and is currently Chair of Water Services Association of Australia and a member of the Advisory Committee of the Australian Water Partnership. He is also a member of the French-Australian Chamber of Commerce Advisory Council. A dual French and Australian citizen, Roch holds formal qualifications in Engineering and Business Management, and seeks to champion innovation and workplace diversity in the organisations he leads. 

Jamie Hollamby – General Manager, Finance and Business Performance


Jamie Hollamby joined Sydney Water as General Manager, Finance and Business Performance in July 2020. Before joining Sydney Water, Jamie was the General Manager, Business Services at SA Water since 2013.

In this role, Jamie led the team delivering support services across the business including financial, procurement, pricing, information technology, engineering, research, water, used water and environmental services.

With experience in Australia, the USA and the UK, Jamie has worked as a Chartered Accountant specialising in finance, governance, project management and risk management. He has also previously worked with BAE Systems, Santos, KPMG and the Australian Taxation Office.

Paul Plowman – General Manager, Asset Lifecycle

BE (Civil), MBA

Before joining Sydney Water, Paul held the position of General Manager Program and Portfolio Management at Northern Territory's Power and Water Corporation. From 2011 to 2013, he held several senior management and major project roles with Melbourne Water.

Paul has more than 18 years' experience in the water industry with particular focus on the development and delivery of investment programs. He has successfully led large, complex infrastructure projects that have involved significant interaction with the community and stakeholders.

Paul has a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from Victoria University of Technology, a Master of Business Administration from AGSM, and has completed executive education at INSEAD (France) with a focus on strategic partnering.

Denisha Anbu – General Manager, Governance and Assurance


Denisha leads diverse teams of professionals across Water Quality, Wastewater and Environment, Management Systems, Protective Security, Resilience and Climate Change Adaptation, Legal, Claims and Corporate Secretariat, Risk and Compliance, and Internal Audit. Denisha is also Sydney Water’s Corporate Secretary.

Denisha is a practising lawyer and governance professional with over 20 years' professional experience in all areas of commercial law and corporate governance. This includes experience as a lawyer gained at King & Wood Mallesons, Telstra Corporation, University of Sydney and Sydney Water. Before Denisha’s General Manager role, she was the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Sydney Water for over 4 years.

Denisha has a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) from the University of Queensland and a Masters of Laws from the University of Melbourne. Denisha is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and a fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia (FGIA). 

Dominic Hatfield – General Manager, Digital

Dominic Hatfield is Sydney Water’s General Manager Digital and CIO. Dominic is a highly capable senior executive with over 26 years of experience managing enterprise-wide technology requirements and IT portfolio strategy. With a career spanning the Media, Retail and Banking industries and a sharp focus on customer experience, Dominic has an extensive track record of creating business value, delivering strategic transformation programs and building high-performing teams.

Dominic’s influential and energetic leadership style is combined with keen brand awareness and astute business judgement, enabling him to maximise organisational outcomes. Dominic’s significant experience and ability to articulate a clear vision allows for the establishment of innovative technology strategies leading to strong revenue growth, best practice customer experience, business transformation and effective cost management.

Leadership, Portfolio Management & Transformation are the pillars on which Dominic prides himself and are the contributing factors to the many successes that he has achieved.

Dominic is also an active member of his local community, volunteering and supporting local sporting events and organisations. Dominic and his family enjoy a healthy lifestyle which includes bushwalking, sunny days at the beach and getting out on the family boat.

Maryanne Graham – General Manager, Customer, Strategy and Engagement

BComms (Journalism and Public Affairs)

Maryanne has been providing strategic and operational leadership to both private and public sector organisations for more than 20 years. Her experience includes strategy development, government and stakeholder relations, marketing, customer experience and corporate affairs delivery for some of Australia’s most high-profile organisations and infrastructure projects, including her most recent role as Executive General Manager Corporate Affairs for the $5.3 billion Western Sydney International Airport.

As a senior executive on large, highly diverse ASX-listed companies, including Downer Group and Transfield Services, she led the corporate affairs, investor relations, government relations and stakeholder engagement portfolios, with operations spanning more than 43 countries and including the oil and gas, utilities, mining and resources, transport, water, property, engineering and defence sectors.

She has extensive experience working across the infrastructure industry, and large state-owned corporations and agencies including Transport for NSW and Sydney Motorway Corporation (WestConnex).

She has successfully led a number of large-scale transformation projects and is a passionate advocate for workplace diversity, employee enablement and disruptive technologies. Maryanne is a Non-executive Director of Westmead Institute for Medical Research Foundation, a Member of the Western Sydney University External Relations Committee and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Bernie Sheridan – General Manager, Customer Delivery

BE (Mech), MBA, MIEAust

Bernie is responsible for all aspects of our wholesale and retail customer service and response activities. He is also accountable for the safe, reliable and efficient operation and maintenance of Sydney Water’s network and treatment facilities. 

Bernie is passionate about delivering safe, efficient and trusted products and services for our customers, now and into the future.

Bernie’s early career was in the power industry, where he held various operational and leadership roles across the Electricity Commission of NSW and ALSTOM Power Services Australia including Executive General Manager for Engineering Services.

Since joining Sydney Water in 2007, Bernie has focused on improving our services including forming the Maintenance Engineering team to improve process reliability and optimise asset investment spend, and the Product and Asset Management team focused on improving product quality and reliability. From 2013, Bernie has managed all aspects of water and wastewater treatment and more recently Laboratory Services.

Bernie has a Bachelor of Engineering from UTS and a Master of Business Administration from Deakin University.

Kathy Hourigan – General Manager, Customer Services

Kathy is a dedicated customer advocate with a passion for service excellence. With a customer-centric career spanning more than 25 years, Kathy has enjoyed her success in executive Customer Services positions across both the public and private sector including key state and national roles. The diversity of industry she has worked for includes Insurance, Telecommunications and Utilities.

Kathy has established and led multi-site, multi-function and multi-product operations servicing large customer bases with involvement across sales, technical support, complaints, emergency response, collections, metering and large-scale customer billing.

With a deep understanding of what drives a high-performance culture and a leadership style that is humanistic and encouraging, Kathy is passionate about employee development and building high-performing teams.

Kathy has received multiple customer service excellence awards throughout her career. She has led a number of customer experience programs and driven significant business transformation and technology advancements, including Sydney Water’s Customer Experience Platform (CxP) Program – a program of state significance delivering SAP CRM, ISU and REFX. Kathy is a Fellow of the Customer Service Institute of Australia.

Christopher Gould – General Manager, Business Development

With a wealth of global experience in large-scale business transformations, Chris leads our organisation to deliver world-class innovation and product development, and water-related solutions for our development and business customers in support of our city’s growth and development, and our high-profile and complex commercial transactions. 

Since joining Sydney Water in 2016, Chris has held a number of senior leadership roles that support Sydney, Wollongong and the Blue Mountains' growth and help deliver the NSW Government’s vision of 3 sustainable, productive and liveable cities.

Before joining Sydney Water, Chris was a Director at Booz Allen Hamilton, Booz & Company and PwC, specialising in strategy, business transformations and commercial transactions in asset intensive and government sectors. He has a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Commerce.

Gemma Martin – General Manager, People & Culture

Gemma has been providing strategic people & culture leadership across the private sector for almost 20 years. Her experience spans all areas of people and culture including learning and development, culture, employee engagement, workplace relations, data and analytics and remuneration and benefits.

With experience in both the United States and Australia, Gemma has held senior leadership positions within a number of large ASX-listed companies including BlueScope, Treasury Wine Estates and Downer Group, where in her most recent role Gemma lead the people strategy across Downer Utilities with a particular focus on creating an engaged and psychologically safe workplace, empowering people to successfully deliver outcomes for Downer's customers, including Sydney Water.

Gemma has a proven track record of successfully leading large scale transformational change, improving diversity and inclusion outcomes, developing and implementing strategy, and leading employee engagement and culture initiatives.

Gemma is a member of the Australian Human Resource Institute, and holds a Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the HR Certification Institute in the USA.
