New Marsfield Reservoir

We've finished building the new tank walls and floor. We've started installing the tank roof and have begun cleaning the outside of the tank and applying the first coat of paint. 

From late July, we’ll also clean and paint the inside of the tank once we finish installing the reservoir roof. We expect this work will take about three months, weather permitting. 

We'll soon begin constructing the new reservoir tank. We'll start by installing the tank floor from mid-December. We'll then start installing the tank wall panels from January, with work continuing until about mid-2025.

After this work is finished, we'll install the reservoir roof and support structures inside the new tank.

We'll soon begin excavating soil and installing pipes that will service the new reservoir. This work will continue to late October. We'll also install the tank foundation from late September.

Since April, we've finished excavating and removing soil to help level our site. We've also installed some concrete slopes to help stabilise the ground and have removed the original gauge house.

We're now ready to start our main construction work. This will take about 20 months and includes excavation, building the reservoir and installing the gauge house, water quality facility and pipework within the site.

Since September 2023, we've:

• established our work area by removing trees and installing a temporary access road within the site
• set up a site office and amenities for our workers
• installed and connected the temporary pipes that will ensure the existing reservoir continues to operate during construction of the new reservoir
• temporarily relocated the gauge house to another location on-site.

Our upcoming planned work activities for the next 6 months include:

• excavating our site to make way for the new reservoir; we'll also install a new retaining wall
• installing new pipework within the site, which will help service the new reservoir once it's built
• begin laying the concrete tank foundation later in the year.

Last year, we completed our site investigations to help plan for this work. In the coming weeks, we'll start getting the site ready for construction.

During our investigations we found that the space constraints on-site meant that we can't safely do our work activities simultaneously. Regrettably, this means the project will take longer than we previously anticipated.

Our work will be done in 3nbsp;stages. The main construction work will take about 20 months to complete, but some work is required before and after we build the reservoir tank.

We've finished more site investigations and continue to develop our detailed design in preparation for construction to start in 2023.

We're building a new reservoir next to our existing reservoir at 37 Abuklea Road. In addition to the new reservoir, we'll install:

• new water pipes along the access driveway to our site to connect the reservoir to the existing water network
• a gauge house for the electrical equipment that will operate the reservoir
• a water quality facility to treat water with small amounts of chlorine and ensure it passes our quality standards before reaching your tap.

We're building a new water reservoir next to our existing reservoir on Abuklea Road in Marsfield. We'll also be installing new pipes and a water quality kiosk. This will help us service expected growth in the area.

Before we start construction, we need to confirm where our pipes and other services are below the ground. We also need to confirm ground conditions.

Most of our work will be done within our property at 37 Abuklea Road. However, we'll need to do some work on the footpath in front of our access road.
