Our diverse property portfolio includes office accommodation, depots, laboratories, treatment plants, reservoirs, pumping stations and vacant land. Some locations are open to the public.
We may issue fines for unauthorised access or breaches to site entry conditions. We must have detailed information to decide if it's acceptable or possible to use, access or buy one of our properties.
Prospect Reservoir is an integral part of our drinking water supply. It's an important back-up and remains a controlled area.
WaterNSW owns and manages the reservoir and Prospect Nature Reserve. The Reserve is part of a Special Area Water Catchment controlled by WaterNSW and isn't open to the public.
However, you can use and enjoy the 3 picnic areas and cycleway by Prospect Reservoir that we manage:
The picnic grounds and cycleway are usually open to the public from 6am to 6:30pm during daylight savings, and 7am to 4:30pm for the rest of the year.
All picnic areas have amenities and playground equipment. There are no barbecue facilities, and fires aren't permitted.
The area also features many heritage sites. We have a long history of managing Sydney's water supply, and Prospect is just one part of our history. Learn more about our heritage conservation.
Email propertyaccess@sydneywater.com.au if you have any questions.
The picnic areas are on William Lawson Drive, just off Reservoir Road, Prospect, about 35 kilometres west of Sydney.
The avenue of pines along William Lawson Drive marks the entrance to Prospect Reservoir.
