    Background Summary

    Sydney Water Corporation (“Sydney Water”) is a statutory State owned corporation under the Sydney Water Act 1994 (NSW) and operates under the State Owned Corporations Act 1989 (NSW).

    Sydney Water provides water and wastewater services to the Sydney metropolitan, Illawarra and Blue Mountains regions. Sydney Water has maintained the reputation of being a leader in water and wastewater service in Australia by providing this service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

    A Range of bulk chemicals are used in the operation of Sydney Water’s Water Filtration Plants, Wastewater Treatment Plants, Recycled Water Plants and Network units to ensure the quality of water and wastewater services that Sydney Water provides to its customers, regulators and other stakeholders are to the required standards.

    This Request for Tender (RFT) invites tender responses from suitable suppliers for the supply and delivery of a range of bulk chemicals to Sydney Water. The chemicals that are covered in this RFT are:

    Sodium Hypochlorite Solution

    Liquid Chlorine Gas

    Sodium Bisulphite Solution

    Ferric Chloride

    50% w/w Liquid Caustic Soda

    Liquid Magnesium Hydroxide

    Liquid Aluminium Sulphate

    Ferric Sulphate



    Hydrated Lime

    Calcium Hypochlorite

    Citric Acid

    Acetic Acid

    Sulphuric Acid Solution 70%

    Potassium Permanganate

    Aqua Ammonia Solution 25%

    Each chemical in the RFT is a Separable Portion and tenderers with relevant capabilities may tender for one or more Separable Portions.

    Sydney Water intends to enter into multiple contractual arrangements on ‘non-exclusive’ basis for supply and delivery of bulk chemicals to Sydney Water as an outcome of this tender process. The proposed contracts with selected contractors will be for an initial period of three years. Sydney Water may at its discretion may decide to extend the contracts for a further period of two years.
