One Smith Street - the move to Parramatta
Sydney Water is relocating its head office to Parramatta in 2009. The new headquarters will be situated at One Smith Street, Civic Place. Major construction work (JPG - 1816KB) began in May 2007.
About 1400 staff from the current city building and other offices will make the move to Parramatta. As greater Sydney's water provider, we will lead by example in best practice sustainable design (PDF - 30KB) . The new premises will feature water and energy efficiency and recycling.
The building is designed to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 30 per cent and reduce drinking water use by 75 per cent compared to a typical office building.
The project will also provide a significant boost to the local economy, offering employment opportunities during the construction phase and on-going benefits by bringing permanent jobs to Sydney's west.
