Desalination Project Liaison Group announced

Sydney Water has announced the membership of the Desalination Project Liaison Group.

Sydney Water Managing Director Kerry Schott said the Desalination Project Liaison Group would provide a forum for the exchange of information between the local community, Sydney Water, Sydney Water’s contractors and alliance partners, and those with an interest in Botany Bay.

“Sydney Water will address key community issues or concerns about the impact of the plant and the pipeline activities as identified by the group,” Dr Schott said.

“Sydney Water will provide information and feedback to the group as well as seeking input from the group on particular issues,” Dr Schott said.

The membership of the group was established from nominations following public advertisements, and in consultation with Sutherland Shire Council.

Membership of the project liaison group is:


“The group will have its initial meeting in April and will then meet every two months, but meetings may be held more often if required,” Dr Schott said.

The group’s independent chair is Denise Wilson. A qualified lawyer, town planner and planning and development mediator, Ms Wilson is a partner in an environmental and town-planning consultancy. She has worked on many significant community consultation projects and, before 1999, held senior positions for Sydney Water, Optus Communication and ANZ Funds Management.
