First Apartment Block In Sydney WaterFix-ed

A Sydney apartment block has achieved a water saving first by fitting the majority of its units with water saving devices as part of Sydney Water’s WaterFix program.

Hyde Park Towers, in Elizabeth Street, Sydney, has now had water saving showerheads, flow regulators for taps and flush regulators for single flush toilets fitted in 155 of its 175 apartments.

Hyde Park Towers Building Manager Allan Hoy instigated the program after seeing promotions on the WaterFix Program.

The WaterFix service involves a licensed plumber installing water saving devices in residents homes and checking for and repairing minor leaks.

Sydney Water would like to encourage similar programs in other high-rise apartments and unit blocks.

On average, residents participating in the WaterFix program can expect to save around 21,000 litres of water each year.

To date, more than 330,000 people have participated in the WaterFix program since 2000, saving over six billion litres of water each year.

WaterFix is one of several initiatives in the NSW Government’s Metropolitan Water Plan.

People interested in the program should contact 1800 995 886 between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday, or 8am to 2pm Saturday.
