* 1996 Australian Drinking Water Guidelines (ADWG).

** Although the ADWG specifies that 95% of fluoride test results should be less than 1.5 mg/L, the Fluoridation of Public Water Supplies Act 1957 requires that, over a year, greater than 95 % of all routine fluoride samples fall within the range 0.90 to 1.50 mg/L.

***Estimated population as at June 30, 2003

**** On the 1/7/2003 the laboratory method for the detection and enumeration of Total coliforms and E. coli was changed from Membrane Filtration to the Colilert method. Where no coliforms or E. Coli are detected, the Colilert method states they are presented as <1 orgs/100mL - for the purposes of this report they have been treated as 0.

The Australian Drinking Water Guidelines 1996 recognise that occasionally throughout the year there may be health or aesthetic related test results above the Guidelines values, and that these results are not necessarily an immediate threat to health. The Guidelines do not require a 100% result in all cases. Disturbances and operational changes can result in occasional localised elevated levels of aesthetic water quality characteristics such as turbidity, pH and iron. Each test result above the guideline value for Total Coliform and/or E. Coli is investigated and actions taken where necessary to minimise the risk of a recurrence.
