Washing Machine Rebate

Washing machines are typically the third highest user of water in the home. As part of the NSW Government's Climate Change Fund, Sydney Water offers a $150 rebate to customers who buy a new washing machine with at least a 5 star water efficiency rating.

To qualify for a $150 rebate you must:

• buy a new washing machine with at least a 5 star water efficiency rating and pay for it in full between 15 January 2010 and 30 June 2010
• have an approved connection to a Sydney Water main at the property where the machine is installed
• buy the machine for domestic use.

Washing machines that have a 5 star water efficiency rating are clearly labelled in stores. The rebate does not apply to energy ratings.

The Washing Machines Rebate is one of a suite of NSW Home Saver Rebates funded through the NSW Government's Climate Change Fund. From 15 January 2010, the total amount of Home Saver Rebate payments a household can receive cannot exceed $1,500 per property. This does not include:

• Toilet Replacement Service
• Love Your Garden Service
• DIY Water Saving Kit

The end date for the 4.5 star washing machine rebate program was 14 January 2010. Application forms for 4.5 star washing machines bought between 1 August 2008 and 14 January 2010 must be received no later than 5pm 30 April 2010.
