Sydney Water has finished restoration along Captain Cook Drive. The Tasman/Dampier Street site was finished in late 2009 with the planting of native grasses and shrubs. These areas will be maintained for six months.
Silver Beach restoration is well underway and the beach will be returned to its previous condition. In consultation with local residents and Sutherland Shire Council, a viewing platform and beach access ramp is being built as part of Sydney Water's commitment to the community. Work is expected to finish in March, weather depending.
The Kurnell Project Liaison Group provides an important forum for Sydney Water, its contractors and alliance partners to work with representatives of the local community to minimise impacts and concerns in the area. Read more.
Construction work in Botany Bay was finished in late 2009 and of the bay floor was restored in early 2010. Sydney Water will monitor this area for six months, as part of its environmental commitments.
Work to remove the temporary wharf is finished and the berth pocket has been back filled. Sydney Water is now re-profiling of the beach and landscaping the dunes and park.
A new 40-space car park and driveway access was finished in late 2009 and the existing car park, north of CSide restaurant, is being upgraded. Sydney Water expects work to finish in March, weather depending.
Kogarah Golf Course restoration was finished in late 2009 and restoration of the roadway underpass is underway.
St George Rowing Club car park is finished and Marsh Street is also restored.
Tempe Recreation Reserve has now been restored. Work included reinstating the picnic area and children's playground, returfing playing fields, new asphalted parking areas, upgrading access roads and newly planted areas. Minor asphalting work will continue into early 2010.
Three construction areas in Sydney Park are being restored. Work includes landscaping the lawn to match the rest of the park, creating an informal grass amphitheatre and planting new trees.
Tree planting will start in April 2010 to take advantage of more favourable weather conditions.
Maddox Street was re-opened in late 2009 and both Mitchell and Ashmore Industrial Estates are being restored to their original conditions.
