Sydney's network of 11 major dams will continue to provide most of our water, even with increased water efficiency, water recycling and desalination.

The Sydney Catchment Authority (SCA) is the NSW Government agency created in 1999 to manage and protect Sydney's drinking water catchments and dams and other catchment infrastructure.

Sydney Water buys dam water from the SCA. The water is then treated and distributed to customers via our network of water mains, reservoirs and pumping stations.

The SCA works collaboratively with Sydney Water to assure that the best possible quality water is supplied to our customers.
