Love Your Garden - wise watering, smart gardening
Everyone's garden is unique, which means that everyone's garden has its own watering needs.
Sydney Water's Love Your Garden service will help you get the most from your garden while saving water. Extensive trials have shown that most participants could save water and improve the health of their garden even during the current drought.
How do I take part ?
Register for Love Your Garden online or by phone.
Phone 1800 354 106 between 8.30am and 5pm Monday to Friday. Remember to have your Sydney Water Account number when you call.
What's involved ?
At a time that is convenient for you, a qualified horticulturist will visit your home and evaluate your garden's precise watering needs.
To get an accurate understanding of your garden, your horticulturist will look at things like:
- soil type and quality
- position of plants and trees
- type of lawn
- how much sunlight and shade your garden gets
- aspect (the slope of your lawn and garden).
What's provided ?
During your appointment, your horticulturist will give you smart watering tools that have been tailored to your garden. This includes a rain gauge and Tap Tags©.
About four weeks after your appointment, we will also mail you a detailed report that outlines the unique watering needs of your garden. The report also includes vouchers for water saving products and services.
How much does it cost ?
The cost depends the size of your block of land:
- If your block size is 1200m2 or less the Love Your Garden service will cost $33.
- For blocks over 1200m2, the service will cost $55.
For a one-off payment billed directly to your Sydney Water account, you get:

If you are unsure of your block size, have your account number on hand when you register for Love Your Garden. The account number can be found on the top right hand side of your Sydney Water bill. We will let you know the block size and how much will be added to your next bill.

Our horticulturists can visit during daylight hours from Monday to Saturday.
The appointment can take up to an hour. There's a guaranteed one-hour appointment window, so there's no waiting around.
