Sydney Water offers a formalised water saving process for business customers who spend more than $70,000 per year on water and related charges.

This amount equates to more than 100 kilo litres of water per day. Our Every Drop Counts Business Program process incorporates water management into your day to day business operations, as well as at a strategic level. This Program compliments the NSW Department of Energy, Utilities and Sustainability (DEUS) Water Savings Action Plan (PDF - 171KB) for high water users and local councils under Sydney's Metropolitan Water Plan.

Joint commitment

To participate in the Every Drop Counts Business Program, you will need to enter into a voluntary business arrangement with Sydney Water. This arrangement demonstrates your business's commitment to improving water management practices and implementing water saving measures, provided they meet agreed investment criteria.

Diagnostic to save water

We will help your business use a diagnostic process (PDF - 258KB) that allows you to evaluate your performance in water resource management.

The diagnostic process (PDF - 258KB) is based on a proven methodology that examines 10 key areas of an effective water management system. During the process, your management team is asked a series of questions relating to each of the key areas. A report is then prepared highlighting what your business can do to save water. These include:

Improvement plan

The diagnostic process helps you develop a plan for saving water. The plan identifies priorities that need attention and the most effective order in which to implement them.

Based on your specific business objectives and resources, Sydney Water will work with you to identify which items you should implement, who will implement them and when.
