Evergreen tufted perennial grass (0.4m x 0.4m) from Qld; NSW (including Sydney Hawkesbury Sandstone) and Vic. Stiff erect grass-like greyish green leaves. Deep violet flowers in succession on a short hairy stalk in spring and summer each lasting less than a day. Useful clumped in a perennial bed particularly in a bush garden. Prefers sandy well drained soil. Frost and drought tolerant.
