We repair wastewater pipes affected by ground movement, tree roots and vibration.

About network repair work

Our wastewater system consists of over 25,000 km of pipes. These range from 100 mm to 900 mm in diameter.

The system also includes structures like:

  • access chambers
  • lamp holes
  • junctions
  • reflux valves.

This network of pipes and structures can be found under roads, in backyards and under buildings.

Being underground, the network is subjected to ground movement, root invasion and vibration, which ultimately take their toll.

We regularly check our wastewater system for damage using closed circuit television. When we find cracked, collapsed or damaged sections, dig and repair work may be required.

We do about 4,000 network repair jobs throughout Sydney, the Illawarra and the Blue Mountains every year. These repairs keep our system operating effectively and help protect the environment and public health.

When working on private property, our contractor will prepare a home plan with the owner or resident as a first step.

After the home plan is done, dig and repair jobs usually take a few days. They involve:

  • digging to expose the broken wastewater pipe
  • replacing the broken section of wastewater pipe or structure
  • restoring the site to existing conditions.

If the owner/resident is present during the restoration stage, our contractor will ask you to sign the home plan to say that the work has been completed.

What’s a home plan?

A home plan is a written agreement, before work starts, between our contractor and the property owner/resident.

It outlines the work to be done and anything the owner wants taken into account while the work is done. For example, we need to be aware of children or pets on the property, or special garden features.

The home plan also outlines:

  • the existing condition of the work site
  • details of the work to be done
  • how the area will be restored.
