Tiara Hunter – Business Administration Trainee
'I'm a Business Admin Trainee working in the People, Leadership & Culture Division. My job involves helping the training delivery team to organise training courses, training enrolments and medical services for staff. I also help the team with their everyday tasks.
Each day is different and I'm lucky to have lots of variety in my work. I'm enjoying this traineeship because it has given me a great opportunity to develop my career. I have a chance to gain valuable work experience and to develop new skills while working towards a nationally recognised qualification'.
Roy Faaeteete – Logistics Trainee
'I am a trainee in the Service and Delivery Division. I'm doing a Certificate III in Logistics and I'm based in a warehouse.
My day starts off with a team talk and task allocation. The warehouse is extremely busy first thing in the morning as maintenance crews require plant and equipment to repair the system. The remainder of the day is taken up by actioning email requests for stores from all parts of the Sydney Water network. I also assist in loading and unloading stores that are delivered. I'm enjoying my traineeship because of the people I'm working with and knowing that I will gain a qualification'.
Industry Experience Program
We provide opportunities for undergraduates who are seeking practical, on-the-job experience to supplement their tertiary studies.
We're looking for undergraduates who show initiative, have a solid academic record, and strong teamwork and communication skills.
We recruit from a variety of disciplines and aim to:
- build a pool of potential applicants for future employment opportunities, eg our Graduate Program
- help students meet their university requirements and gain professional experience
- offer placements ranging from three to 12 months.
We advertise industry experience placements on a business needs basis and start our recruitment campaign in October/November each year.
