Statement of corporate intent

The Statement of Corporate Intent (PDF - 277KB) focuses on the achievement of the commercial aspects of the corporate objectives set out in the Sydney Water Act (1994). The Act says:

  1. The principal objectives of the Corporation are:

    1. to be a successful business and, to this end:

      1. to operate at least as efficiently as any comparable businesses, and

      2. to maximise the net worth of the State's investment in the Corporation, and

      3. to exhibit a sense of social responsibility by having regard to the interests of the community in which it operates, and

    2. to protect the environment by conducting its operations in compliance with the principles of ecologically sustainable development contained in section 6 (2) of the Protection of the Environment Administration Act 1991, and

    3. to protect public health by supplying safe drinking water to its customers and other members of the public in compliance with the requirements of any operating licence.

  2. Despite section 8 of the State Owned Corporations Act 1989, each of the Corporation's principal objectives is of equal importance.

The performance targets and service standards for operational matters and customer service are set out in the Operating Licence, which includes the Customer Contract.
