Indicator: Number of zones where microbiological compliance was achieved
We manage drinking water quality to standards set by NSW Health and the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines 2004 (ADWG).
The guidelines recommend we test for E. coli (a type of thermo-tolerant coliform bacteria) which shows the presence of faecal contamination. The guidelines require that at least 98% of scheduled samples in each supply system contain no E. coli.
In 2011–12, all 13 supply systems met the guidelines, with 99.93% of the samples we tested containing no E. coli. This compares with 99.95% of samples complying in 2010–11.
