Appendix 18: Staff and industrial relations

This year, we prepared for a new Enterprise Agreement. Negotiations started in March 2012 and continued into the new financial year. The IPART determination has presented real challenges for Sydney Water, which is reflected in the bargaining process.

Organisational change continues to generate challenges in Fair Work Australia from unions, with Operations and Maintenance attracting most attention as they press to raise their competitiveness. Changes to work patterns, standby and call-out procedures and the mechanical/electrical group were the main areas of dispute.
