Trade Waste plumbing

All properties that discharge liquid trade waste to Sydney Water's wastewater system must obtain written permission from Sydney Water in the form of a permit or consent. It is the property owner's resonsibility to operate and maintain the trade waste system.

Trade wastewater is any liquid or substances contained in it that are produced in an industrial or commercial activity and any wastewater transported by vehicle.

For commercial trade waste pre-treatment, only products currently authorised (PDF - 122KB) for installation in Sydney Water's area of operations will be permitted.

Inspections

NSW Fair Trading is responsible for drainage inspections to and from the trade waste system. To book an inspection call NSW Fair Trading on 1300 889 099.
