Plumbing Regulation - Sydney Water's new approach

Sydney Water is improving the way our Plumbing Inspection and Assurance Service (PIAS) performs its role as the regulator.

The new approach is planned to commence late in 2008. The new approach aims to make regulation more effective and efficient. It strengthens and enforces the role of the Certificates of Compliance that are issued by licensed and knowledgeable tradespeople to their customers. This change in emphasis allows the auditing of plumber performance to be based on risk.

Sydney Water will write to all plumbers about the new approach prior to its implementation.
