Connections and disconnections

wastewater and stormwater systems

You need to obtain Sydney Water's approval if you are planning to connect to or disconnect from any of its wastewater, stormwater or water systems or do any work, which affects its system such as minor and major works.
To book an inspection for a connection or disconnection, call NSW Fair Trading on 1300 889 099.
To arrange an inspection of a new wastewater junction or water main connection (drilling), call Sydney Water on
13 20 92 between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday or email Sydney Water a Construction Commencement Notice (CCN).
A risk assessment should be done before installing or removing a water meter and/or metallic water pipes (PDF - 106KB) .
