Sydney Water's Plumbing Inspection and Assurance Services (PIAS) transfers to NSW Fair Trading on 29 March 2010.

After the PIAS transfer to Fair Trading on 29 March 2010, it will still be business as usual for booking inspections. The PIAS team, current booking system and telephone number 1300 889 099 will all remain the same at Fair Trading. For more information on the transfer, visit the NSW Fair Trading website.

The current process for booking audit inspections will also stay the same.

As part of a NSW statewide plumbing reform, NSW Fair Trading will become the state's single plumbing and drainage regulator in 2010. This reform will be in two stages.

On 29 March 2010, Sydney Water's Plumbing Inspection and Assurance Service (PIAS) will transfer to NSW Fair Trading, which will take over responsibility for on-site regulation of plumbing and drainage work in Sydney, the Illawarra and the Blue Mountains.

The broader statewide amalgamation of regulation with Fair Trading will happen progressively from mid-2010. There is also a proposal to replace the current NSW Code of Practice Plumbing and Drainage with that the Plumbing Code of Australia (PCA) by mid 2010.
