Environmental and traffic management

Environmental management

Sydney Water completed a Review of Environmental Factors (REF) for the program of reliability and renewals projects in April 2005.

The REF was developed in consultation with the North Head Wastewater Treatment Plant Community Consultative Group, Manly Council, government agencies and local stakeholders. The REF was on public display during April 2005.

Ten submissions were received following the public display. Sydney Water reviewed the submissions received and prepared a Decision Report in July 2005 to address the issues raised.

A Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) was prepared and implemented for the project to ensure that environmental controls were in place to minimise impacts on the community and environment.

Traffic management

Sydney Water recognises that truck movements can affect the amenity of the local area. Thanks to the recent improvements to biosolids management, the number of biosolids trucks entering and leaving the site during normal operations has reduced from four a day to just one.

Sydney Water has recently contributed funds to Manly Council to assist with local road safety improvements in Darley Road.
