Edmondson Park

The Edmondson Park Urban Release Area, under the Sydney Metropolitan strategy, is part of the South West Growth Centre for Sydney. The NSW Government nominated Edmondson Park as one of the early release areas within the Growth Centre, along with Oran Park and Turner Road precincts.

Edmondson Park will provide about 7,500 homes over the next 20 years. This level of growth requires new services to be installed in the area in a staged approach.

Sydney Water has developed a preferred servicing plan for providing drinking water, wastewater and recycled water infrastructure within the Edmondson Park area.

Catchment areas

The Edmondson Park area is separated into seven main catchment areas for servicing, based on topographic conditions. The map below shows Edmondson Park's seven catchment areas and the proposed location of Sydney Water's water infrastructure.

Construction timeframes

Sydney Water is completing work in a staged approach in the area.

Sydney Water and Networks Alliance have begun construction on the water and wastewater trunk infrastructure for Catchment C. The project is expected to be complete in late September 2012, weather permitting. The work will include about 0.25 km of water pipeline and 1.5 km of wastewater pipeline. This infrastructure will service about 2,000 residential lots in the future.

Sydney Water is working with Landcom to deliver trunk infrastructure to other catchments within the Edmondson Park Urban Release Area. This arrangement with Landcom has helped us to deliver trunk infrastructure into Catchment A.

Sydney Water and Landcom are working together to deliver trunk infrastructure into Catchment D and E. Timeframes for stages of work in the catchment areas are dependant on demand for housing and development.

Review of Environmental Factors

Sydney Water has prepared a Review of Environmental Factors (REF) for the proposed work within the Edmondson Park area, which was finalised in December 2010. The REF assesses the potential environmental impact of the work, and proposes mitigation measures.

An information day was held on Saturday 14 August 2010 for the local community, regarding the Edmondson Park servicing strategy. The information handed out on the day is available below.
