The North West Growth Centre (NWGC) is within the boundaries of The Hills Shire, Blacktown City Council and Hawkesbury City Council. It is made up of 16 Precincts that will accommodate approximately 70,000 new dwellings over the next 30 years.

In June 2006, the Minister for Planning announced the first release of land in the NWGC. This land release is collectively known as the First Release Precincts and includes:

• North Kellyville
• Alex Avenue Riverstone
• Riverstone West
• Colebee
• Area 20

In October 2009, the Minister for Planning announced the Second Release Precincts of the NWGC. The Second Release Precincts include:

• Box Hill
• Box Hill Industrial
• Schofields

In addition Marsden Park and Marsden Park Industrial have been released as part of the Office of Strategies and Land Release’s Precinct Acceleration Protocol.
