The Wollongong Recycled Water Plant is one of the largest plants of its type in Australia, treating wastewater from three coastal sewage treatment plants and producing up to 20 million litres of high quality recycled water each day for BlueScope Steel.

The recycled water plant is at the heart of the Illawarra Wastewater Strategy, a $215 million initiative that is part of the NSW Government's commitment to sustainable water use and a cleaner environment, as outlined in the 2006 Metropolitan Water Plan.
