Planning for future growth

To service Sydney’s growing population, Sydney Water is working with key stakeholders to develop integrated water servicing strategies that are smart and sustainable. These strategies will address drinking water, non-drinking water and wastewater solutions for areas experiencing population growth. 

Although we are planning for future water related infrastructure, Sydney Water may not be the service provider in some of Sydney’s new growth areas. The Water Industry Competition Act 2006 and supporting Regulations commenced in August 2008 to encourage competition and innovation in the provision of water and wastewater services.
