Tour the Cronulla Wastewater Treatment Plant

The Cronulla Wastewater Treatment Plant treats about 54 million litres of wastewater a day.

Where is the plant?

The Cronulla Wastewater Treatment Plant is on Captain Cook Drive, North Cronulla.

What will we see there?

The plant treats wastewater to tertiary standard and has many advanced features.

You'll see treatment processes such as screening, settling, a biological reactor , filtering and ultraviolet disinfection before the treated effluent is piped out to sea or recycled.

You'll see how the plant captures and reuses methane gas and turns waste materials into biosolids for use in agriculture.

What happens on the tour?

The tour takes about two hours and includes a multimedia presentation and site tour.

The group will be met by the tour leader, who will escort you and explain the treatment processes.
