Welcome to the virtual tour of Sydney's desalination plant.

Here you'll find all you need to know about the plant, which is based in Kurnell, in Sydney's south. Desalination provides an extra source of water that doesn't rely on rain. It is an important part of the NSW Government's Metropolitan Water Plan, to help secure Sydney's water supply in the face of climate change and population growth.

The Sydney Desalination Plant is currently operated by Veolia Water Australia under contract with a wholly owned subsidiary of Sydney Water - Sydney Desalination Plant Pty Ltd.

You can follow this tour through to the end in the same order as a guided tour of the actual plant. You can also use the tour map or quick links to go directly to a particular section.

Throughout the tour, there are information hotspots where you can find details about the plant's operations and objectives. These include videos that describe the different processes occurring at the plant as well as links to 'ask an expert' questions.
