Where can I go on a tour?

If you live in Sydney Water's area of operations, your tap water will have been treated at one of our water filtration plants. Your wastewater would have been treated at one of our wastewater treatment or recycled water plants.

Sydney Water runs guided tours of these facilities for organised groups. The tours offer insight into Sydney Water's operations and the connection between home/school and water supply and wastewater treatment. They also showcase the latest technology in supplying, treating and managing our water and wastewater, including recycling.

What happens on a tour?

Tours groups can visit water filtration, sewage treatment and water recycling plants.

The tour starts with a presentation to explain the plant and its relationship to the water cycle. The guide introduces the key concepts and processes of water and wastewater treatment and recycling.

The guide gives a health and safety briefing before you walk through the plant where the guide will explain each of the different processes used.

After the tour, the group returns to the meeting room, where they can ask questions and find out more about Sydney Water's operations. Brochures about the facility are available. Groups spend about two hours at the plant.
