Are you about to connect water services to your property?

The first step is to apply to Sydney Water for permission to establish a water service connection and to obtain a water meter. Remember, only Sydney Water or a licensed plumber can fit water meters.

Read Sydney Water's guidelines (PDF - 134KB) for issuing and fitting water meters.

Trial of water meters for new units

To enable customers to monitor and manage their own consumption, Sydney Water is trialling sophisticated technologies and methods to measure the water being used in new units.

One trial connects each unit's water meter to a data logger that sends usage information via General Packet Radio System (GPRS) technology to Sydney Water.

Sydney Water can then send individual water usage bills to each unit.

Having an individual water meter for each unit enables residents to monitor their water use and save water.
