Deemed to Comply drawings

Sydney Water supports the use of WSAA National Codes and supplements them with Sydney Water editions. These codes set down best practice for the design and construction of water and wastewater systems. They are presented largely in performance-based requirements.

Standard drawings in the codes are illustrative and provide general guidance to Designers for the preparation of detail design drawings. They are in themselves not adequate for construction purposes.

Sydney Water is now publishing ‘Deemed to Comply’ (DTC) drawings. These series of drawings may be used to construct high volume repetitive assets. DTC solutions take into account of our contemporary needs and are based on optimising total life cycle costs. They will be updated regularly to keep up with changing needs and market technology.

We welcome any questions, comments, or suggestions. Please email them to standards@sydneywater.com.au.

Terms of use

  1. These DTC drawings have been prepared with reasonable care but Sydney Water makes no representations or warranty that they may not contain defects, omissions or errors. Sydney Water does not assume any duty of care to you. Sydney Water has no responsibility to inform you at any time of any matter that may require a change to the drawings.
  2. A Designer choosing to use these DTC drawings shall be responsible for ensuring that they are applied correctly in the circumstances of the project. The limitation and rules of application are outlined in these drawings. You must carry out all necessary checks and works that the design solution presented in these drawings are fit for purpose and will perform as required. Sydney Water is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential, special or exemplary loss or damage arising from incorrect use of the DTC drawings.
  3. The user undertakes not to provide the DTC drawings to any other party without the prior approval of Sydney Water.
  4. Construction of Sydney Water assets in accordance with DTC drawings is not mandatory. Sydney Water welcomes innovative solutions in asset creation. You are encouraged to submit alternative design in place of the DTC solution. In that case, the DTC drawings will assist you in understanding our requirements. Alternative solutions will be viewed positively and assessed by benchmarking with the DTC solution.
  5. By downloading these drawings the user agrees to the above terms of use.
